ExxonMobil Marks First Proxxima™ Solutions Deployment in Subsea Equipment with Usan Award in Nigeria
Proxxima™ resin systems continue to expand their role in subsea applications with the award of the Nigeria Usan Infill Project’s Well Jumper scope to the Petrolog/Global Ocean/DBN consortium. This milestone represents the first self-use deployment of Proxxima polyolefin thermoset resin systems in subsea equipment, as well as a highly successful global collaboration that is delivering new Nigerian local capacity development.
The award builds on the growing momentum for Proxxima technology across oil and gas applications and highlights how advanced resin systems can help operators address flow assurance, application efficiency, and long-term durability in harsh offshore environments.
Subsea infrastructures operate in some of the industry’s most unforgiving conditions, where enhanced thermal performance, mechanical durability, and corrosion resistance are critical.
Proxxima solutions are designed to help:
- Sustain performance with robust hydrophobic properties and enhanced cool down times
- Expand possibilities via broader operating envelopes*, delivering high resiliency across deepwater temperatures and pressures and expanded subsea layout
- Streamline and deliver faster via single layer, direct-to-steel application
As part of the Usan Infill scope, Proxxima thermal insulation solutions featuring ODYSEA’s Goldilocks (GDLX™) technology will be applied to seven subsea well jumpers to be installed at the Usan field operated by ExxonMobil affiliate, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Offshore East) Ltd. The Usan field is in approximately 850 meters of water depth and is a key asset within ExxonMobil’s deepwater portfolio. The Usan Infill Project is expected to deliver 40,000 barrels per day of peak production in 2027. Fabrication and insulation activities under the awarded scope are expected to begin in Q3 2026.
This milestone was made possible through expansive global technical collaboration and supported by a fit-for-purpose contracting and execution approach that enabled the award to also strengthen local Nigerian engineering and fabrication capabilities.
The role of Proxxima solutions in the project further reflects ExxonMobil’s continued confidence in the technology and its broader potential across offshore and subsea infrastructure.
