CAMX 2026: A showcase for how Proxxima™ resin systems deliver performance, productivity and design flexibility in advanced composites
If you want to make it last, make it Proxxima™—at CAMX 2026, that message came to life through real-world applications, expert speaker presentations and collaborations from across the composites and advanced materials industry.
Innovation made to last: Real-world applications on display
A highlight at CAMX was the heavy equipment mat featured in the Proxxima brand booth and brought to life in the Composites One’s Innovation Zone. Our technical experts Jeff Bunquin, Iris Lopez and Madison Beal introduced the CAMX audience to a setup of the Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM) table used to infuse an extremely thick panel made with high glass fiber content and a polyurethane foam core. This technology offers processing improvements applicable for large-scale infusions. Demonstrations like these highlight the power of Proxxima systems, bringing together material science expertise, manufacturing capabilities and end-user applications. The finished application, a heavy equipment mat, was a centerpiece of the Proxxima brand booth and showcased a lightweight and durable composite solution versus traditional wood-based materials.
Additional Proxxima-enabled solutions in the booth included:
- Next-generation fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) Pipe: Designed for harsh conditions and offering high heat resistance, this strong FRP pipe offers lightweight construction, which can enable thinner walls and longer runs between joints, improving overall system efficiency, as compared to incumbent materials.
- Advanced composite pump components: Together, the carbon fiber-reinforced pump case and impeller deliver up to 70% weight savings versus metal, enhanced corrosion resistance in brackish and saltwater service, and reduced maintenance, downtime and lifecycle costs.
- Engineered composite repair for pressure piping: This engineered carbon-fiber composite repair for pressure piping features rapid cure and toughness that enables burst pressures over 30% higher than calculated survival requirements.
- Innovative electric vehicle battery housing demonstrator: Nominated for CAMX’s Unsurpassed Innovation Award, this electric vehicle battery housing demonstrator, developed by the Proxxima team with Fraunhofer ICT leverages the unique properties of Proxxima systems in its design, as well as in its manufacturing process with a single injection production step, to meet critical performance needs.
- Composite overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV): Manufactured with Proxxima system to exhibit higher burst performance and reduce burst variation compared to typical epoxy systems, it offers performance enhancements by reducing carbon fiber content, increasing storage volume and reducing overall weight and production costs.
These solutions demonstrate what it means to make it last by combining material performance, manufacturing efficiency and design flexibility to create solutions built for the demands of the real world.
“At ExxonMobil, we believe the best innovations are the ones that last,” said Brian Jones, Vice President of Proxxima resin systems. “CAMX is a powerful showcase of what can be achieved when innovators across the composites industry come together to solve real-world challenges. Across a growing range of applications, the Proxxima team is helping customers unlock performance and productivity gains while expanding design possibilities. By rethinking what’s possible in composites, we’re helping bring ambitious ideas to life and deliver durable solutions built to last.”
A top-to-bottom approach to industry innovation
The Proxxima brand’s offerings were highlighted in several CAMX 2026 speaker sessions covering an array of topics:- Leonardo Cardoso de Oliveira, Research Scientist at Fraunhofer ICT, presented structural neat-resin ribs in high-pressure RTM molding—the technology behind the battery housing demonstrator on display at our booth.
- Tarun Mago, Global Business Development, Mobility at Proxxima systems, ExxonMobil, discussed innovative FRP designs for composite overwrapped pressure vessels for mobility applications.
- Vineet Jha, Proxxima Composites Principal, ExxonMobil, presented innovations in filament-wound composites using Proxxima resin systems.
At CAMX 2026, Proxxima systems demonstrated that lasting performance is the result of purposeful innovation. Make it last. Make it Proxxima™.
